People Come to Us To Treat:

EMDR was developed to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and over time was studied and shown to be effective in treating:

  • Trauma

  • PTSD

  • Anxiety

  • Panic Attacks

  • Grief + Loss

  • Negative Self-Beliefs

EMDR With Atlas

  • Doesn't require you to talk in detail about the painful event(s) you want to process.

  • Uses bilateral stimulation (such as guided eye movements, tapping, or sounds) while you focus briefly on a memory.

  • Helps your brain reprocess the memory in a way that reduces its emotional charge and allows you to integrate it more adaptively.

At its core, EMDR helps your brain do what it naturally wants to do — heal.

What to expect in these EMDR sessions

  • You don't have to go into the whole story.
EMDR focuses on what still feels stuck — like emotions, beliefs, or body reactions — instead of re-telling every detail.

  • We’ll start with a memory that still affects you.
Maybe it causes anxiety, shame, or just won’t stop looping in your mind.

  • You’ll follow a back-and-forth rhythm.
This could be eye movements, tapping, or sounds — kind of like “resetting” how your brain stores the memory.

  • Emotions, thoughts, or body sensations may come up.
That’s normal — and you’re always in charge. We go at your pace.

  • The goal? For the memory to feel less painful and more neutral.
Many people say, “It still happened, but it doesn’t hurt the same way anymore.”

  • You can pause anytime.
Your comfort and safety come first.

  • Afterwards, you might feel tired or lighter.
Processing can be intense, but it often brings a sense of release or relief.

8 phases of our EMDR sessions:

  • This initial stage involves understanding your background, identifying potential traumatic memories for treatment, and tailoring our plan for therapy to your specific needs.

  • We begin to build rapport and further discuss the EMDR therapy process which addressing any of your questions or concerns. We will also explore coping strategies you can use if feeling overwhelmed during treatment.

  • We’ll select the event/memory you wish to reprocess and identify related visuals, beliefs, emotions and sensations. We’ll also establish baseline measures of distress (SUDS).

  • We will use bilateral stimulation-this could be eye movements, tapping, or sounds-while revisiting the traumatic event and work towards decreasing your SUDS (subjective measure of distress), thereby creating space for new beliefs, visuals and sensations to emerge.

  • We will work to integrate the positive beliefs and new associations in relation to the targeted memory.

  • We will scan your body for residual tension or discomfort and return to bilateral stimulation to further process any persistent distress.

  • Using grounding techniques you will be brought back to the present and ensure you are feeling calm, grounded, and present.

  • At the start of following sessions, we will check your progress, ensuring that the positive effects have been maintained and determining if further reprocessing is needed, potentially identifying new areas that require attention.
