Congratulations on taking your firt step towards growth through therapy.
Whether this is your first time in treatment or if you’re a seasoned therapy participant, it can be helpful to know what’s ahead if we decide to work together.
Get started
Step 1: Free 15 minute consultation call
A good therapeutic relationship is key to achieving positive clinical outcomes and to enjoying therapy! As such, the intake process begins with a free 15-minute phone or video chat to determine goodness of fit. During this call we will briefly discuss your current stressors and goals for treatment as well as the approaches we may use to tackle your goals. Remember-this is a chance for you and your prospective therapist to get to know each other so be yourself, ask whatever questions come to mind and think about whether you may want to spend 50 minutes every week with them!
Step 2: Assessment
We believe in using evidence-based tools to guide and inform our work together. If we decide to work together, you will complete a selection of intake assessments tailored to you. The results will help us to identify your current symptoms, areas of focus and related goals.
Step 3: Treatment
Treatment will be provided via a telehealth platform or in person on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, based on your needs. Your therapist will put together a treatment plan based on your shared assessment. They may assign homework for you to complete in between sessions should you have the time. Assignments can be a powerful way to independently implement strategies and explore concepts discussed during the clinical hour. When clinically indicated, we may also make referrals and/or consult with other providers to support you in reaching your goals.
Step 4: Re-Assessment
Assessments will be re-administered every 6 months to gauge progress towards your treatment goals. During re-assessment periods, we will check in about whether the therapeutic relationship is still serving you, whether there are any areas of opportunity and whether you may be ready for termination.
Step 5: ThERAPY WIND-DOWN
There may be a number of reasons for termination. If you move to a state where our therapists are not licensed, if you and your therapist are not a good fit, if you might benefit from a treatment we do not currently offer or if you’ve reached your clinical goals. Regardless of the reason for termination, we will create opportunities to process the end of the therapeutic relationship and ensure that you have what you need for the next step of your journey.
