Psychotherapist
Joy Belamarich, LCSW
She/her
I work with anxious high-achievers, people-pleasers, and perfectionists - including adult children of immigrants, adult survivors of childhood abuse and neglect, and new and expecting mothers. Maybe your self-worth lives in other people's hands: confident when the feedback is good, unraveling when it isn't, exhausted by the rollercoaster. Maybe you understand your anxiety completely and still can't stop it. Insight alone hasn't brought relief, and sometimes it's made things worse. Maybe the perfectionism that once fueled your success now leaves you rigid, overwhelmed, and unable to rest. Or maybe new motherhood has brought emotions no one prepared you for, grief alongside love, comparison alongside joy and you need a place where all of it can be true at once.
My Philosophy
I believe healing happens when curiosity and compassion replace self-judgment
and that the past isn't something to dwell in, but our most valuable data for understanding the patterns that limit you today.
In our work together, I blend psychodynamic depth with practical, cognitive-behavioral tools — because no single approach fits everyone. My style is relational and attachment-based, incorporating internal "parts" work to understand what drives your perfectionism and anxiety, and mindfulness and somatic awareness to build tolerance for uncertainty where control once ruled. You can expect a balance of meaningful validation and healthy challenge from me, with room for spontaneity and humor along the way. Together, we'll trace where your patterns began, unearth the buried needs underneath them, and anchor your self-worth internally — so it no longer rises and falls with everyone else's approval.
